Special Interest Groups
Outside of our monthly meetings, members can also participate in a wide variety of special interest groups. You don’t have to join any of these groups, but if (and when) you choose to do so, you can join one group or all of the groups, it’s entirely up to you.
You don’t need to book or pay for the majority of the activities, but you are required to confirm attendance on those activities where there is a minimum/maximum number of attendees, as this helps us to better manage the event. Some activities might require an extra fee, which may be used for supplies, to pay a third-party supplier or even as a donation for our Charity of the Year, but you’ll be told in advance if that is the case.
The booking can be done via the Facebook events, or on the event sign-up sheets, available at every monthly meeting. All of the groups’ events are listed on the Calendar, as well as on each individual Facebook group page.
Don’t forget: you will only have access to join these groups if you are a Weybridge WI member.
The current Interest Groups are:
Weybridge WI 'Muffin Tops' Walking Group
The affectionately named ‘Muffin Tops’ walking group usually meet once a month for walks of varying lengths around the Surrey countryside. Depending on the time of year these walks take place either on week-day evenings or at weekends.
More recently, weekly shorter walks have been added to the calendar.
Weybridge WI Gardening Club
The Gardening Club is a group of awesome green fingered WI ladies who meet to learn and share their knowledge about gardening.
Past meetups have included visiting members’ gardens, Queen Elisabeth Roof Garden, Lambeth Palace Gardens, and Wisley Gardens.
Weybridge WI Baking Group
The Baking Group is a group of like-minded WI ladies that like to bake, try new things and (of course) enjoy eating their baked goods. They meet every 2 months, and have a different theme to bake to for each meet-up. They all bring a batch of baked treats on the night to have with a good cup of tea. They also regularly contribute baked goods to sell or donate as raffle prizes at WI meetings.
Past cakes baked include Lemon Drizzle, Madeleines, Ginger Parkin, Tea Loaf and homemade bread and soup.
Weybridge WI Crafty Crew
The ‘Crafty Crew’ is all about anything crafty, and meets on a monthly basis to indulge in trying out new crafts, teaching each other tried and tested crafts, and maybe fitting in a crafty trip or too as well. All levels of skill are welcome; it’s all about having fun, learning new things, and spending time with like-minded crafters.
The craft group met every month, trying out a huge range of activities including: pom-pom making, ceramic painting, card making, felt ornaments and Christmas wreath making.
Weybridge WI Social Butterflies
The ‘Social Butterflies’ are there to look after the general social needs of members. They organise nights out locally and out of Surrey, with activities ranging from musical tribute nights with drinks and dinner, drinks at a local pub, a theatre outing and more.
Weybridge WI Beverage Appreciation Society
The BAS club. A place where Gin & Prosecco love is real. There is normally a a monthly meet-up at a members’ house or local bar.
Weybridge WI Pedal Pushers
Weybridge WI Eco Warriors

This Eco group exists to inspire each other by sharing ideas, encouraging each other and discovering what solutions we can action individually and collectively. Activities include Litter-picking and visits to refill stores and markets.
